Colored Contact Lenses Guide - Picking The Right Color Every Time

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By Mike Schwartz Choosing the perfect colored contact lens can be a daunting task. But the good news is that it doesnt have to be. With improved colors and a wider variety of tints to choose from, you will have the most spectacular eyes in the house in no time at all. In order to pick the perfect colored contact, you must first have an idea of the look you are going for. Do you want to enhance your natural color, give a subtle change to your color or are you looking to completely change your eye color altogether? If enhancing your natural eye color is what you are looking for, then you will want to purchase a colored contact that has an enhancement tint. By using a tint that is slightly darker than your natural color, enhancement lenses intensify the eye color making the eye more vibrant. Enhancement contacts are generally used for people with lighter-colored eyes. Maybe you want just a subtle change in color. If so, choose a colored contact that is close to your natural color. For instance, if youre eyes are blue, a gray tint will give you the type of color that has people whispering and wondering what is it thats different about you today. If you want to completely change your color, pick a contact lens that is a dramatic change from your natural color. This change doesnt necessarily have to be something that is picked by chance. Find a contact lens color that is a contrast from your skin tone, hair, or makeup. Most importantly, pick a colored contact that makes you feel comfortable and attractive. There are so many possibilities that if you get tired of a certain color one day, you can realistically have a completely different color the next day without breaking the bank. Whether its to enhance, give a subtle change, or to complete a new look, purchase your new colored contacts today! Mike Schwartz is the owner of the popular web site Best Contact Lenses Online His site provides useful tips, resources, and reviews to help you make the best decision when purchasing contact lenses on the Internet. Want to Be a Client Magnet? Try This Little Used Technique

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Sandra Martini I recently needed to contact a vendor regarding a delivery question. Without naming names, I can tell you that the vendor is a small business and I do a not-insignificant amount of business with them. The person who answered the phone (not the owner) sounded as if my call were an interruption in her day (ever have this happen to you?). She was not pleasant and wanted to get me off the phone as quickly as possible. She was able to answer my question and off I went not feeling appreciated and not feeling valued. So be it. I went about my day and needed to contact another vendor to see if I could use an American Express card for payment as their invoice didnt state. This should have been a minute-long phone call. It wasnt. The accounts payable person also apparently having a rough day based on her tone told me that they did indeed accept Amex. Great more points! is what I thought and happily gave her all the information. About an hour later my phone rang. It was the same woman, clipped tone and no sense of friendliness whatsoever, now telling me that they do not accept American Express and I would need to pay in another manner. Not a big deal and I gave her another credit card. Once she had the information, she said goodbye and hung up the phone. It obviously wasnt my day to call vendors. These two companies one large and one small have forgotten to train their employees in the art of common courtesy. There are several ways that both of these employees could have made me feel, their customer, feel valued: Answer the phone while smiling (people really can tell) Be helpful without making me feel that I was an intrusion on their day I wont even mention that had their respective ordering and invoicing documents been done correctly, there would have been no need for my calls. Say thank you for calling And, in the case of the confused accounts payable person, apologize for not knowing whether or not the company accepted a certain credit card (whether her fault or not, she should have apologized to me on behalf of the company). This very easily could have turned into an amusing part of the day for both of us. Companies of all sizes need to understand a very basic concept: Everyone in the company is involved in marketing. Every customer/client contact is a chance to positively OR negatively affect how the customer feels about the company. Do it correctly and a customer is happy. Screw it up and they may forgive you screw it up too many times and you lose the customer. Let me tell you another quick story: A client of mine recently had several cartons of brochures delivered from a printer. There were four different types of brochures. The driver, smiling, wheels in several cartons and asks where he should leave them. My client asked him to just leave them in a corner of the store room as they needed to sort them by brochure title before placing them on the shelves. Turns out the driver had already done that and put the names of the brochures on the sides of the cartons (not just on top where you can never read them) to make them easier to read while on the shelves. As he was leaving, he thanked my client for his business. Surprising? It shouldnt be. This is common courtesy and what a good company instills in each of its employees. Every employee who has the slightest contact with a customer or client should know that each customer/client is THE most important person to the company. The truck driver in the above story gets it. Be sure that you do as well. Courtesy is often overlooked as a means of getting, and keeping, clients. Another example is the doctor who calls a patient at home the evening after a treatment; just to be sure everything is okay. Want to really impress your clients? Take it a step further and thank them for their business. People like, and need, to feel appreciated and valued show them gratitude for doing business with you and watch them turn into great sources of referrals. Some simple ways of saying thank you include the following: Send birthday cards/gifts depending on the size of the client and your budget. In the U.S., send Thanksgiving cards or letters everyone sends holiday cards, be a little different. If you are located near your clients, occasionally drop in with a small surprise gift. Be sure your invoice includes a line thanking your clients for their business. If it works with your business, have some type of a customer appreciation event. In this world of running here and there, email, voicemail, blackberries and MDAs, the personal touch combined with a little courtesy and gratitude goes a long way. Thank you for taking time from your busy day to read this today. :-) Online Business Manager & Entrepreneur, Sandra Martini, publishes the ‘Effective Entrepreneur’ weekly e-zine. The Benefits of a Cleanse

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Dr. Robert Fleishmann Taking a break is something we could all use. But when life doesnt allow us the luxury, we need to make sure that were doing something to help our bodies keep up. With a cleanse, you can enable your body to withstand the rigors of your busy life, while also protecting it from the damage that you might have already caused. Our bodies arent made to last forever, but they can certainly last longer when we think about a detox cleanse. Why you need to detox from time to time Think about the trash can in your home. When it gets to be too full, you empty it. That seems simple enough. What you might want to consider is that your body acts in much the same way, storing trash and toxins until it gets too full and needs to be emptied. Some of us react to this build up by having digestive troubles, while others of us can become tired and lethargic. Instead of waiting for your body to react, you can be proactive by doing some sort of detox body cleanse plan that will help the trash be taken out more frequently. When toxins accumulate in our bodies, a number of things can occur. For one, you might notice swelling in your extremities, you might see that your face is puffy or that your digestion is slower. While these seem like smaller problems, without a detox cleanse routine, these toxins will back up into vital organs like the kidneys and colon, causing more problems than just simple fatigue. Cleansing gives you energy When you embark on a simple cleanse, you will see the increase in your bodys energy nearly immediately. Because your body isnt adding to the problems it already has, your body is able to start working on the problems that are present and solving them. For example, simply fasting for one day (assuming that your doctor approves it) will allow your digestive system to rest and work on the food that is still in there. Its a known fact that most of us have days worth of food in our intestines, so every now and then, they need a detox cleanse. Or you can buy a footbath cleansing systems such as the Ioncleanse that will help you rid your body of impurities that build up over time. Cleansing lets your digestion be more efficient Instead of having constipation, a colon detox program can help move things along at more normal pace. By following a detox cleansing diet, for example, you can introduce foods that digest easily as well as deposit fiber in the digestive tract, helping to scrape away any residue in the large intestine that might be slowing things down. You might also want to try a colon detox supplement that will help to compact the remaining fecal matter in your ntestine so that it is removed entirely from your body. Cleansing removes harmful chemicals Due to the processed foods that we love and eat, our bodies can need a detox cleanse routine more than you can imagine. These chemicals can build up in your body and start to damage the DNA in your cells, possibly causing cancerous cells to form. When you create the time for a detox body cleanse on a regular basis, you will prevent his kind of chemical build up and possibly head off more dangerous diseases. Of course, you can help this process by limiting the chemicals you take in as well. Nursing Malpractice

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

By Kevin Stith Nursing malpractice can be defined as negligence on the part of nurses which brings physical or emotional damage to the patient under their care. This includes mistakes while assisting in the delivery of a child, failures with medications, or causing any loss and/or injury by not working well. Below are key elements of a nursing malpractice case that should always be taken in mind: 1. Standard of care. Basically, standard of care is the nurturing and concerned behavior of a careful or prudent health care specialist that they provide in all circumstances. Nurse Practice Acts, State Boards of Nursing, and Nursing Departments generally have made policies and procedures regarding standards of care that guide nurses and ancillary staff in almost all patient care situations they may face. Standard of care can help the nurses prevent making fatal mistakes such as: 1. Failure to assess patient’s condition such as blood pressure, vital signs, or blood glucose levels on time 2. Inability to take proper action or notify physicians when there are significant changes in the patient’s condition 3. Commitment of medication and/or documentation errors 4. Misusing a medical device or gadget 5. Failure to perform a procedure Proper demonstration of standards of care means absence of malpractice in the work place. 2. Duties and responsibilities. Once a nurse accepts assignments, whether they are reports to accomplish, patient care, or doctor assistance, she has already agreed to take responsibilities for those activities. By accepting the assigned patients, for example, the nurse has assumed a duty to take care of and treat the patient with a high degree of skill, care, and diligence acquired or exercised by experienced, competent, and careful nurses. 3. Customer concern. All nurses should bear in mind that the patients are there because they have special needs and that they are the ones responsible in giving the patients those needs. Nurses show love and respect as if the patients are a close relative of theirs. Once the nurses start developing positive feelings towards their patients, the tendency is that they would treat them the way they deserve to be, and they will not be able to commit any misconduct. The 10 Best Fat Burners You’ve Never Heard Of

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Jayson Kroner Even as the words of this article echo through your dome, your non-active, physically hibernating peers are slowly growing guts that will plague them ten years from now. And you know whats funny they have no idea that its happening to them. Because the sad reality is simple. And whether you like to admit it or not, the majority of the people riding out this flash-in-the pan that we call life, are living it fatter than they have at any other point in recorded history. Sad. So very sad. Whats even more disheartening, is that this metabolically sickening scenario might perfectly describe whats been happening with you lately. Think about it. Have you been laying low, too busy, taking a break or just chillin for a few weeks? If even one these excuses sounds familiar, dont spaz just yet. Because by no means are you, my caloric-storing compadre, alone in this struggle. After all, its just human nature to need some time away from this physically-disciplining lifestyle that so many of us have chosen to lead, right? Wrong. Come on, you should know by now that your body could care less about whats going on in your life. And while were on the topic of biological self-bias, how do you think your body would respond to that corporate horse-feed you all call lunch twice a week? Im sure that if our physical selves had the fortune of telling us what they really thought about our diets, they would retort with some serious Scarface-esque threats. Ju wanna go to war, huh! Ju wanna go to war??? Because we take you to war! Sure, laugh. But as disheartening as this is to say, thats the script your metabolism writes every time you blow off a workout, drink 17 beers and dog a burrito at 3:47 am on a Friday night. And dont even try to justify it, wiseguy. Because you cant fool your internal organs. The body knows one thing, and one thing only how to respond to each and every one of your dietary decisions. Its precision is flawless. You drink, you pee. You cut yourself, you bleed. You listen to Yanni, you yawn (or attack your stereo with the nearest blunt object). And then, low and behold, if you neglect you total metabolic system, you get fat. Heres why. When youre young, your body is capable of actions that equate to biological history as an adult, even as a young adult. Hormones that once fueled your youthful metabolism begin to wane in production and activity. Nutritional deficiencies become a part of everyday life. The couch starts to look more and more appealing with each passing day. And then, boom! Before you know it, you have a set of love handles that insult you every time you dig out an old pair of jeans. Fret not, fatty. Theres hope for you yet. This business of science and nutrition is a remarkable one, to say the least. So remarkable in fact, that its now very possible to alter the way that your body deals with stored fat, sluggish metabolism and poor thyroid hormone production. And as Im sure you know, theres certainly no shortage of self-proclaimed fat burning champions to choose from these days. But thats where the bad news ends, and the good news begins. After weeks of good old fashioned trial by fire, its my distinct honor to introduce you to some of the best fat burners money can buy. Now get to work! Thermolean Extreme Shocker Nutrition www.shockernutrition.com Ive always enjoyed Shockers products, and Thermolean Extreme was no exception this time around! Right off the bat, the first thing I noticed about Thermolean Extreme was the kick that I felt within twenty to thirty minutes after taking it. It was strong, but not overpowering or uncomfortable. In fact, it was the exact opposite. After taking it prior to my morning meal, I was highly motivated to workout, go for a run or hit the bike. And that, my friends, is the mark of an excellent fat burning formula. This unmistakably unavoidable motivation can be easy attributed to a perfectly balanced arrangement of thermogenic and hormonal support agents. This includes generous amounts of Citrus Aurantium (standardized to 6% synepherine), 500 mg of Green Tea extract (98% polyphenols and 45% EGCG), 300 mg of caffeine, 200 mg of Guggle lipid extracts (for thyroid support), 7-OXO (a natural metabolite of DHEA), and Octopamine, an effective glucose support agent that helps encourage lipolysis at the cellular level. In light of this unbelievably versatile framework, I was equally impressed with the 4:1 ratios inherent to the three of the supporting herbs in Thermolean Extreme Dandelion, Buchu and Juniper Berry. These three natural diuretic extracts arent traditionally seen in many of todays formulas, but it was refreshing to watch them unite in this formula. Within the body, they have very strong synergistic properties, and have helped scores of people lose weight successfully. Shocker has always been about the science, and that was very clear in this formula. Its simply outstanding. Caffeine Anhydrous, 300mg Green Tea Extract, 500mg (98% Polyphenols & 45% EGCG Octopamine, 250mg Juniper Berry Extract 4:1, 250mg Dandelion 4:1, 250mg Buchu Extract 4:1, 250mg Guggul Lipid Extract, 200mg (10% extract yielding 20mg Guggulsterones) 7-OXO, 100mg (3b-Acetoxyandrost-5-ene-7,17-Dione) Coleus Forskohlii, 100mg (10% extract yielding 10mg Forskholin) Magnesium Gluconate, 100mg Vitamin B-6, 50mg Synephrine, 30mg (From 6% Citrus Aurantium) CLA Extreme from NOW www.nowfoods.com NOW Foods is truly one of the industrys best kept secrets, but make no mistake anyone who knows a thing about them knows that they are completely dedicated to backing everything they do with strong scientific research. CLA Extreme is a remarkable fat-burning formula that launches an all-out war on stored fat and sluggish metabolisms. This is accomplished by uniting conjugated linoleic acid (which just happens to be one of the most thoroughly researched fat burning catalysts of all time) with a base of potent synergists that helps maximize metabolic activity. They include natural vitamin E, chromium picolinate, guarana and standardized green tea extracts. Even more impressive, NOW is one of the few companies out there to include a generous amount of L-carnitine. I can sum this one up in one word energy! From the first day I took it, I was instantly convinced that there was something very special about this formula. The softgels go to work extremely fast, and have a long-lasting effect that keeps you well-fueled for hours. And come workout time, CLA Extreme really shows its true colors. I had some of the best workouts of my life while using this powerful formula, and have recommended it to just about everyone whos ever asked me for nutritional advice. My only regret is that I dont have one more arm. If I did, this one would definitely get three big thumbs up. Its just that good. Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopherol), 10 IU Chromium Picolinate, 100 mcg CLA Conjugated Linoleic Acid, 750 mg L-Carnitine (from L-Carnipure),100 mg Guarana (Standardized Extract),75 mg Green Tea, 50 mg (min. 40% Polyphenols and 30% Catechins) Kranker Extreme IDS Sports www.idssports.com The people at Innovative Delivery Systems really came though on this one. The ingredients in their Kranker Extreme Speed Gels are super fast acting, powerfully effective and backed by a mountain of science. What I found most fascinating about this product was the completeness of the nutritional profile. From energy production and thyroid support, to appetite control and lioptropic balance, Kranker Extreme delivers everything a person could want in a weight management formula. Their decision to offer this potent collection of weight management compounds in a liquid softgel was an equally smart decision. Not only does it allow for rapid uptake, but it also reminds you that your money has been well spent. The subtle rush of energy that comes from 100 mg of caffeine is nicely complemented by a proprietary blend of Green Tea, Citrus Aurantium, BioPerine, Uva Ursi, Bergamottin and Coleus Forskolin. As an added perk, Kranker Extreme also contains 150 mg of Hoodia, to help keep your appetite at bay. At the end of the day, Kranker Extreme is a fantastic product that I will be enjoying for a long time to come! Hoodia Cactus, 150 mg Citrus Arantium, 272 mg Proprietary Blend, 435mg Caffeine Green Tea Extract Bioprene Coleus Forskolin Uva Ursi Bergamottin Scorch MAN Products www.manb2p.com Scorch is nothing short of thermogenic excellence in a bottle. This was my first time using MAN products, but I cant stress enough how glad I was that I did. Their unique collection of fat burning and thermogenic catalysts comes together to create one of the most effective weight management products Ive ever had the pleasure of using. Within a few days of supplementing Scorch, I could notice changes not only in my appearance, but in my overall levels of metal alertness, skyrocketing energy levels and feelings of complete confidence in the gym. And talk about versatility. Scorch packs 10 of the best compounds into a convenient 2 capsule serving that delivers a metabolic punch without the jitters and shakes that can accompany some of even the strongest formulas. Its fueled by a unique combination of catechins, EGCG and polyphenol-rich tea extracts, in addition to 200 mg of USP caffeine, 99% tyramine, coleus and several others. All told, this is an extremely potent formula that will find you fully energized and looking and felling better than you have in years. Lean Green, Green Tea Std. Ext, 250mg (90% Catechins, 60% EGCG) Total EGCG, per Serving, 150mg P2 Oolong Tea Std. Ext, 250 mg -(30% Polymerized Polyphenols, 10% EGCG) -Total Polymerized Polyphenols, 75mg -Total EGCG Per Serving, 25mg Caffeine USP, 200mg Rhodiola Rosea (4% rosavins), 100mg Evodiamine 99%, 50mg Coleus Forskholii Leaves SE (40% Forskolin), 50mg Tyramine HCl 99%, 50mg MiracleBurn www.miracleburn.com Miracle Burn may be one that youve never heard of, but with one of the most complete fat burning profiles available, its definitely one that you need to know about. I was instantly impressed with this one, as well as the feedback that my peers provided. It encompasses everything that is essential in a quality weight loss supplement a solid thermogenic foundation, key thyroid supporting compounds, essential b-vitamins in perfect balance for energy and metabolic support, and a powerful proprietary blend that attacks stubborn fat on the cellular level. One of the things I liked most about MiracleBurn was its inclusion of Senna and Cascara Sagrada. These are two very effective herbs that help facilitate and support natural digestion, along with Hoodia Gordonii in the ideal 20:1 ratio. All in all, MiracleBurn is an outstanding way to successfully manage a healthy body weight using natural ingredients that have been proven time and time again to do exactly what they claim to do. Vitamin B-3 (as Pyridoxine HCL), 48 mg Biotin, 3 mg Chromium (as GTF Chromium), 168 mcg Iodine (as Kelp), 63 mcg Proprietary Blend, 1700 mg Glucomannan Advantra Z (Bitter Orange Extract) Hoodia Gordonii 20:1 Yerba Mate (leaves) White Willow Extract (bark) Apple cider Vinegar Cascara Sagrada (bark) L-carnitine Senna Potassium BioBurn Extreme For Youthful Health www.4yh.com BioBurn Extreme is an instant favorite in the making, and I was completely impressed by how fast I was able to notice it working within my system. In addition to 200 mcg of chromium, this powerhouse formula is fueled by 500 mg of Citrus Aurantium, a potent form of AdvantraZ (bitter orange extract). This is a very unique pairing that seems to work in much the same way that some ephedrine-like products do without the jitters and excessive sweating inherent to such. I was equally impressed with the choice of compounds and extracts in BioBurns proprietary blend, and was especially pleased to learn that Guggulipids were a key component. Ive been a big believer in the role that Guggul can play in supporting the positive augmentation of lean muscle mass, while expediting the process of converting stored fat into expendable energy that the body can use metabolic energy. It was nice to see that someone had actually taken this into consideration, as well. That, coupled with a potent base of very well thought out synergists such as Garcinia Cambogia, Metabromine-G, NAC and L-tyrosine, Caffeine and Greet Tea make BioBurn Extreme a safe, effective fat burning formula that I would confidently recommend to my friends and family. In fact, I did just that! Chromium, 200mcg (1675%) Citrus Aurantium, 500mg BioBurn Complex, 200mg Garcinia Cambogia Guggullipids Metabromine-G N-acetyl l-tyrosine L-tyrosine BioBurn Tea Blend, 200mg Caffeine anhydrous USP Green Tea Powder Green Tea extract AccuSLIM www.accuslim.com Accuslim floored me. Now, I had heard some good things about this advanced fat burning formula from a few of my industry peers, but their words didnt do this outstanding formula a bit of justice until I finally had the chance to try it for myself. Im still at a loss for words on where to start. Accuslim clearly has one of the most potent and science-based nutritional profiles on the market today, and as if that werent enough, the potencies are optimally balanced for absolute effectiveness within the bodys metabolic system. The manufacturers of Accuslim did a remarkable job formulating this legend in the making, and have left no biological stone overturned. Blood serum levels are perfectly supported with 300 mcg of GTF chromium, as well as100 mcg of vanadium a grossly overlooked element in many of todays most popular formulas. Accuslim also delivers outrageous thermogenic synergism via 600 very generous milligrams of AdvantraZ, and 400 mg of Tea extract per serving! American and Oriental ginseng root extracts gave me a nice kick that helped in sustaining high-output cardio workouts, and an unheard of 1.5 grams (1500 mg) of Garcinia Cambogia (HCA) has been included. This was successful in keeping my mind off of food while burning fat in the process. The bottom line? This one has it all. A strong, non-stimulant thermogenic base, essential blood sugar support and a lineup of supporting nutrients that make it one of my top picks. GTF Chromium Chelavite, 300mcg Vanadium, 100 mcg Advantra Z (from Citrus Aurantium), 600mg Tea (Leaf), 400mg Oriental Ginseng(root), 200mg American Ginseng(root), 100 mg Eleuthero(root), 250mg Rhodiola Rosea (root)(Artic Root), 300mg Garcinia Cambogia (standardized for 60% HCA fruit), 1,500 mg Ventilean Lipothermic Solution Pharmagenx www.pharmagenx.com Ventilean delivers a product that truly makes it possible to initiate the fat burning process at an earlier stage during exercise and training. This was evidenced the first time I tried it. Right away, I found that my endurance and energy levels were vastly improved than they would have been without it, and my response to fatigue was cut down dramatically. What I enjoy most about this unique merger of essential nutrients and thermogenic compounds was the delivery method. While they also offer Ventilean in liquid lipogel caps, I was blown away with their ultra-fast acting liquid liposome delivery system. A convenient, non-injection, spill free and easy cap-on oral dosing syringe was perfect for filling and taking to the gym and office. On an equally impressive level, is the collaboration of potent lioptropic and thermogenic compounds, including 750 mg of theophyline, and 21 mg of 95% standardized Zi-Shi equivalent to 20 mg of synephrine. This, in unison with 150 mg of caffeine, an arsenal of metabolic supporting B-vitamins and one of the few proprietary blends to incorporate C-Amp (cyclic adenosine 3, 5monophosphate) makes Ventilean an excellent way to jumpstart the process of burning fat during moderate and intense exercise. Pantothenic acid 100mg Zi-Shi (standardized to 95% synephrine 20mg), 21mg Guarana, 150 mg (standardized to 20% caffeine) 1.3 % Theophyline(10mg), 750 mg Vitamin B3 Niacinamide, 20mg Vitamin B1 (Thiamin HCL), 1.4mg Vitamin B2 Riboflavin-5-phosphate, 1.3mg Vitamin B6 (Pyridixine HCL), 1.3mg Vitamin B12, 2.4mcg Proprietary Blend, 229mg Caffeine Citrus Aurantium L. (fruit extract for 30% synephrine) Stevia Yohimbe (Corynanthe johimbe root extract, 95% yohimbine) Kelp Vinpocetine Guarana (paullina cupana seed extract 22% caffeine) C-Amp (cyclic adenosine 3, 5monophosphate) Ultra Ripped Ultimate Nutrition www.ultimatenutrition.com Ultimate Nutrition continues to impress me. By incorporating sound science to formulate their products, they get right to the heart of what the body needs in order to encourage the body to burn fat at an accelerated rate. Their ephedrine-free Ultra Ripped formula gave me a nice kick that kept me well-fueled throughout the course of even my heaviest workouts. One of the nicest things about this formula, is the value that you get in return. For openers, Ultra Ripped is very moderately priced, making it affordable to anyone who might not have tons of cash to devote to supplements. But aside from that, their products just work. Period. By incorporating well-researched thermogenic synergists such as Chromium, green tea and bitter orange along with a nicely balanced proprietary blend, Ultimate continues to offer products that you can put your faith in, every time. Chromium, 100mcg Garcinia, 1200mg Bitter Orange, 133mg Ultra Ripped Proprietary Blend, 277mg Guarana Seed Green Tea Leaf White Willow RELORA Relora is perfect for anyone whos serious about sticking to a diet, or for anyone whos had trouble fighting the urges to shovel down handfuls of food while doing so. This patented proprietary complex of extracts from Magnolia officinalis and a patent-pending extract from Phellodendron amurense addresses an area of weight loss that others simply do not the physical and mental stress that often accompanies dieting. It was developed specifically to help encourage stress-related appetite control, and has a proven record of both safety and effectiveness. One of the reasons that Relora is so high on my list, is because of the role it plays in preventing the release of the stress hormone cortisol that weve all heard so much about. The process is quite simple. When you train hard, you stress your system. When you stress your system, your body responds by releasing cortisol. An overproduction of this pesky stress-hormone can ultimately relate in more abdominal fat, fatigue and an increase in appetite. Supplementing Relora in combination with your regular training and supplement regime is a great way to get the most out of your diet and training! The Top 10 Mistakes Job Seekers Should Avoid In Contacting An Employer

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Pam Woods There are numerous tools and resources available to guide job seekers through the steps of a career transition. These tools are very useful and suggest much that you should do. At the same time, some individuals benefit equally by learning what to avoid. If you count yourself in this latter group here is a laundry list of things that “turn off” an employer. Make sure you steer clear of the following: 1. Don’t submit your cover letter and resume using every format known to man. Don’t fax, e-mail and send hardcopy; one submission is sufficient. 2. Don’t “stalk” the employer. Calling and e-mailing daily to see if you have been selected for an interview looks needy and will not encourage the employer to contact you. 3. Don’t say in your cover letter that you’ll call the employer and then not call. Better yet, don’t say you intend to call. Employers don’t have time to field calls from every applicant. 4. Don’t ignore the employer’s directions regarding the submission of your qualifications. For example - if an employer has advertised for a technical writer and requested three writing samples, send three samples. I once received an e-mail from one applicant saying he had so many great samples that he was unable to decide upon three, so he wasn’t sending any. 5. Don’t call the employer and ask them to tell you more about the job before submitting your resume. If you see a position advertised that looks appealing, go for it. You can get the details later. 6. Don’t e-mail and forget to provide the attachments or provide attachments that are blank. 7. Don’t ask if the job is still open within a week or two of an advertisement. Whether the job is open or not is almost irrelevant. You will want to give yourself as many options as possible and getting your resume on file can be important, especially if the employer’s initial offer isn’t accepted or an additional candidate is needed. 8. Don’t expect the employer to do your homework. It’s your job to research the employer. Search the internet, go to the library, and utilize your network to see what information is available about the company. 9. Don’t send a resume without a cover letter. Simply stated, most employers view this as being lazy. 10. Don’t make it hard for the employer to place you. Employers frequently have more than one opportunity available, thus it is important that you specify the position for which you are applying. Pam N. Anti-Depressants: Is The Cure Worse Than The Illness?

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

By Talia Mana This is the sort of book you wish your doctor would read. It looks holistically at depression considering the biomedical model (i.e. there is something wrong with your body and in particular your brain) as well as psychosocial factors, lifestyle changes and other environmental influences. Is It Me or My Meds is penned by David Karp, who has long term depression and anxiety. He interviewed 50 people (including teens) with major depression and manic depression to gauge their attitudes about taking antidepressants and dealing with depression and the stigma around it. Why people take antidepressants Commonly accepted wisdom is that depression is caused by a biochemical balance in the brain which can be helped by taking antidepressants. Not everyone accepts this hypothesis. Some believe that depression and other mental illnesses can be fixed through meditation, counselling or other types of therapy, dietary changes, exercise or sheer willpower. According to an anonymous academic who blogs here http://clinpsyc.blogspot.com Please. There may well be brain issues in people with various mental illnesses, but this whole chemical imbalance thing is 95% marketing, 5% science. Find a serious scientist who will step up to the mic (sic) and tell us about the definitive chemical imbalance that causes bipolar, schizophrenia, or much of anything else in the mental disorder world. While there were many people that resisted medication there were some who welcomed it with relief. Many patients were anxious for anything that might grant them some relief from unrelenting feelings of sadness, worthlessness and at times suicidal ideation. Individuals reported varying degrees of success with antidepressants. For some, taking medications were a lifesaver that enabled them to feel more confident, overcome feelings of hopelessness and get on with life. However large numbers of people reported dissatisfaction with the side-effects of meds, failure of the meds to work effectively, gained only short-term relief from antidepressants or felt ostracised by being labelled as someone who needed to take psychotropic medications. There were several patients who refused to take meds, or found themselves hopeful that they would one day be able to wean themselves off antidepressants. Overall, the majority of patients interviewed did not like taking meds for depression, bipolar or anxiety. This attitude is also reflected in the attitude of the author, who has tried unsuccessfully to withdraw from taking antidepressants and antianxiolytic meds. The people interviewed referred to searching for identity and not knowing whether the self on drugs is the normal person or the one off drugs. Many felt pressure to conform to societys expectation of normalcy. The book includes a quote from Francis Fukuyama:There is a disconcerting symmetry between Prozac and Ritalin. The former is prescribed for depressed women lacking in self-esteem; it gives them more of the alpha-like feelings that comes with high serotonin levels.Ritalin on the other hand, is prescribed largely for young bots who do not want to sit still in class because nature never designed them to behave that way. How your relationship with your doctor affects you It was also evident throughout the book that the relationship of the individual to their health professional made a substantial difference. In situations where the individual felt that the health professional listened to their needs and offered trustworthy advice, patients were more likely to take meds and more likely to have success with them. In this respect the placebo effect of medications was influenced not only by the knowledge that they were taking meds for their depression but also by their trust in the Health Professional prescribing the meds. Married to antidepressant meds The author has a wonderful quote on taking meds:an unexpected relationship will become permanentHe uses this quote (from a fortune cookie) as an analogy to taking meds. He suggests that many people are encouraged to take meds as a temporary measure not realising that for some they will need to be on antidepressants for the rest of their life either because the illness is too severe or because the withdrawal symptoms of stopping are too painful. Doctors encourage patients to take meds likening the antidepressants to treatments for diabetes or headaches. However there is one critical difference - antidepressants are mind altering substances. In my experience with doctors they are all reading from the same script. They all want you to believe that antidepressants are better than the alternative. Im not convinced that is always the case. From my own personal experience the side-effects of meds often outweigh the benefits. Do the drugs really work? The author points out many of these drugs are relatively new. While they have been tested and found safe this is only within the parameters of their testing. If a drug has only been around for 10 years there is no way to know what its long term effect may be on someone who needs to take that med for another 50 years. For many the improvement from antidepressants is only slightly greater than the placebo effect. According to one study of SSRI antidepressants http://content.apa.org/journals/pre/5/1/23Approximately 80% of the response to medication was duplicated in placebo control groups, and the mean difference between drug and placebo was approximately 2 points on the 17-item (50-point) and 21-item (62-point) Hamilton Depression Scale. There were many patients interviewed in the book who had little or no relief from the prescribed antidepressants or find the side-effects unpalatable. The book is sympathetically written and will be helpful for people feeling isolated, confused or curious about anti-depressants. It is ideal for anyone who has ever considered taking medications for depression or other mental illnesses. It would also be useful for anyone who has colleagues or loved ones with depression, bipolar (manic depression) or anxiety. Natural Tips and Tricks for Maintaining Beauty

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

By Roy Thomsitt Magazine and television advertising focuses almost entirely on beauty products that contain synthetic chemicals, some of which may cause health problems later in life, or even sooner if you are unfortunate. Some advertisements, of course, promote surgery as a means to “improve”, sometimes with disastrous results for the patient. Surely, there are some natural ways to maintain your already existent natural beauty; and maybe even provide some anti-aging protection at the same time? Here are a few natural beauty tips that you may not have considered, or never taken seriously before, for which you do not need to visit a store and open your purse: 1. Water as Your Number One Beauty Ally Even the least scientific amongst us probably know that the human body is made up of a large proportion of water; and that includes your skin. Common sense then tells us that we need to drink a large amount of water. Did you also know that if the body has any sort of problem, internal or external, it requires extra free water in order to repair the damage? That is water, not juice or any water contaminated with caffeine, sugar or any other substance. Even a beautiful woman who is sick becomes less beautiful; if her skin starts to become damaged, she looks her beauty wanes. Water is an essential to the necessary repair and your overall health. Very few people drink enough water, and one doctor at least argues that chronic dehydration is the root cause of many medical problems, including ulcers, cancers, and heart “disease”. Have a look at watercure.com to learn more. 2. Work on Your Inner Peace and Happiness People who worry about their looks too much are often adding to the problem, if indeed there is a problem. Being discontent and worried itself can cause you to look strained and older. Millions automatically reach for one of the magic chemical potions they see advertised on television, or look to the Yellow Pages to book a facelift. Instead, the starting point could be to improve the way you feel about yourself from the inside. That will reflect on the outside over time. The eyes of an unhappy person lose their sparkle, and their beauty can be destroyed. 3. Sleep, the Natural Healer The human body is in a constant state of renewal, both inside and outside. That renewal, and repair, goes on 24 hours a day, but while you are asleep there are no distractions of activity, and no exhausting demands. Your immune system is able to work unhindered while you are asleep, keeping you at the peak of health. If you are at the peak of health, your natural beauty lasts longer. You really do need your beauty sleep; that is one of the wisest and most accurate sayings of all time. People’s needs vary, but 7 or 8 hours uninterrupted sleep is probably what you need for peek health. There are, of course, many more things you can do to preserve and prolong your natural beauty, but the above three should be at the core of your beauty care all the while. This natural beauty article was written by Roy Thomsitt, owner author of the Womens Natural Beauty website, where you will find articles on acne treatment, stretch marks, and other skin related health and beauty articles, plus other topics related to beauty. The Subconscious Mind As Teacher: Why It Can Help You Relieve Your Pain

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

By Ben Plumb Many disciplines are designed to program the subconscious. But except for the method used to derive visualization statements, no technique honors the subconscious as a teacher by first asking it what it believes will work. This distinctive approach may be very helpful for pain relief. Visualization statements represent the specific language that your subconscious wants you to read back to it to help ease your pain. Theyre simple and are targeted directly at the main factors that could bring you relief. You can obtain these statements by learning how to communicate directly with your own subconscious mind. The process is straightforward and can be done at home by working with a facilitator over the telephone. You you need no special skills and no previous experience in working with the subconscious. Programming the Subconscious from the Outside It’s long been known that the subconscious can be programmed. This is done through hypnosis, biofeedback, relaxation therapy, affirmation, and other techniques that cause it to believe a given assertion. For a comparison of ten different ways to ease your pain using the mind-body connection, please see the free report available from the Web site mentioned at the end of this article. Click on the link, go to the Home page, and download the free report. Because the subconscious makes literal associations, most mind-body methods attempt to shape it from the outside by giving it suggestions that originate in the conscious mind–yours or a therapist’s. A Distinctive Approach In contrast, to derive visualization statements you and a facilitator begin by asking your subconscious what suggestions it needs to hear in order to relieve your pain. You then feed the suggestions back to the subconscious by reading them or saying them from memory a set number of times per day. That is, the suggestions that you ultimately give it do not come from the outside, but rather are elicited from the subconscious itself. Working from the Inside We use this approach because the subconscious controls the involuntary functions of the body, one of which is pain. It’s possible to gain many insights by asking the subconscious to impart its knowledge, to let us know what we must do to alleviate the pain. We can then use that knowledge to help the subconscious do its work. This approach may be helpful in addressing back pain or pain in other extremities, arthritis pain, fibromyalgia pain, or neuropathic pain (nerve pain). In our relationship with the subconscious, it’s useful to consider that it’s the teacher and we’re the students. The value of what it has to teach us about pain relief can be priceless.
